Custom B2B e-commerce

Selling to other companies is not like selling to the public: different prices for each customer, recurring orders, agreed terms. You need an e-commerce built on those rules.

Empatix builds custom B2B e-commerce for manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors. An ordering portal where each customer finds their own catalogue, their own prices and their own history, connected to the company's management system.

The problem: orders arriving by email and phone

In many companies customer orders still arrive by email, phone or message, and someone retypes them into the management system. It works, but it has a cost:

  • sales office time spent copying instead of selling;
  • transcription errors, wrong codes, quantities to confirm;
  • customers calling to ask about price, availability or delivery status;
  • orders that only arrive during office hours.

A B2B e-commerce removes these steps: the customer orders alone, whenever they want, seeing their own terms, and the order reaches the management system already correct.

What a B2B e-commerce needs

  • Customer-specific price lists and discounts: dedicated prices, quantity tiers, reserved promotions.
  • Quick reorder: repeat a previous order, lists of usual products, entry by product code.
  • A rich catalogue: variants, technical sheets, downloadable documents, search by code and by feature.
  • Availability and delivery times read from the warehouse.
  • Commercial terms: minimum orders, deferred payment, credit limits, multiple delivery addresses.
  • Several users per customer company, with roles and approvals.
  • Agent area: orders on behalf of customers, portfolio, history.
  • Documents: order confirmations, delivery notes and invoices available to the customer.

Connected to your back office

A B2B e-commerce detached from the management system moves manual work around without removing it. That is why integration is the heart of the project: products, stock, price lists and customer records come from the system you already use; orders flow back on their own. If the current system is the limit, we can build a custom one or add only the missing pieces alongside it.

Getting found, not just used

The catalogue can also be your best tool for winning new customers: public product pages that are fast and well structured get indexed by Google and cited by AI engines. Prices and terms stay reserved for account holders. It is the same technical SEO work we did on the catalogue of the Dionisi Group website.

How it is made

It is a custom web app: an interface designed for people who order often and are in a hurry, widespread technologies (TypeScript, React or Vue, Node.js, PostgreSQL), code and data owned by you. No commission on sales and no fee growing with the number of customers.

Cost and timing

Cost depends on the complexity of your commercial rules and, above all, on the back-office integration. After the analysis you receive an estimate split into phases. It usually pays to start with reordering for existing customers, which frees up sales office time straight away, and to add the public catalogue, agent area and automation afterwards.

How we work

  1. PHASE 01

    Listen

    We understand the problem before proposing a solution. Workshops, questions, zero pointless slides.

    We collect your commercial rules: price lists, discounts, minimum orders, payment terms, the role of agents.

  2. PHASE 02

    Design

    Clickable prototypes in days, not months. You decide on something you can actually touch.

    Reordering is designed for people who buy often and are in a hurry: few steps, search by code.

  3. PHASE 03

    Build

    Short sprints, frequent releases. Watch the product grow week after week.

    First the back-office integration and reordering for existing customers; then the public catalogue and agent area.

  4. PHASE 04

    Evolve

    We don't vanish after launch. We measure, improve and stay by your side.

    We watch what customers search for and order, to improve catalogue, search and promotions.

Frequently asked questions

Why not use a standard e-commerce platform?

Standard platforms are designed for selling to the public: one price per product, immediate payment, a simple basket. B2B needs customer-specific price lists, tiered discounts, minimum orders, deferred payment and approvals. These can be added with plug-ins, but beyond a certain complexity it costs less to build exactly what is needed.

Does the e-commerce connect to our back-office system?

Yes, and it is the most important part of the project. Products, stock, price lists and customers come from your management system; orders flow back without being retyped. We use the system's APIs when available, or automated data exchange.

Are prices visible to everyone?

You decide. The catalogue can be public, so it gets found on search engines, with prices and terms visible only after login. Each customer sees their own price list.

Can our sales agents place orders on behalf of customers?

Yes. Different roles can be defined: the customer ordering independently, the agent ordering for their own customers, the sales office approving non-standard terms.

How much does a custom B2B e-commerce cost?

It depends mostly on the complexity of your commercial rules and on the back-office integration. After the analysis we prepare an estimate split into phases: we often start with reordering for regular customers, which pays back immediately, and add the rest.
